Know your contractor

Have you ever contacted a company for your service needs, only to find out that they could not handle the job that they bid for? This is not uncommon with a lot of small businesses today. With the economic situation and unemployment at record levels, more and more personnel are looking for jobs where they don’t have the proper training or equipment. There are times where the general contractor will need to sub out the work. This should be occasional, but not the norm for¬†general business. Prior to awarding a bid, make sure that you know your contractor well. Do not let a company decieve you into providing a lot of up front money until you are sure tha they can perform the task.

There are (4) key items that a contractor should provide on a general job:

  • License
  • Liability Insurance (ensure that it is up to date)
  • Bond (This may be a bid or surety bond; make sure it is active)
  • Reference list of clients (Follow up to get feedback before awarding the bid)

At Master Clean, we ensure that our customers are protected. It is important to be a reputable company by sufficing the needs of your customers. Being bonded protects the home or business owner from unreputable companies and reduces the chances of fraud.
